Lessons from Swiss Mandate

As Massachusetts gets ready to require that all citizens have health insurance, there aren't many playbooks to follow. No other state in the US has mandatory health insurance but it is a requirement in two European countries: the Netherlands and Switzerland.

The Swiss introduced it 11 years ago, so we've decided to look at their experience for some lessons closer to home. WBUR's Bob Oakes speaks about that with Beatrice Schaad, a Swiss journalist who is currently at the Harvard School of Public Health.
