Johnson Sticks With Boston

Carol Johnson is coming to Boston after all. Despite a last ditch effort to keep her on as the Superintendent of Memphis City Schools, Johnson plans to take up that post in Boston.

She spoke with reporters last night, after meeting with members of the Memphis Schools Board. She said, "While I am invigorated by the challenges that lay ahead and hopeful of making a substantive difference in Boston, that does not make my departure from Memphis easier. I have been torn and changed my mind more than once."

Dakarai Aarons covered that meeting. He reports on education issues for 'Memphis Commercial Appeal' and now joins WBUR's Bob Oakes to talk about what happened.

This program aired on June 19, 2007. The audio for this program is not available.
