Esplanade Revelers Arrive Early

Independence day crowds flocked to the Esplanade along the Charles River early Wednesday morning, some arriving in the wee hours.

The gates opened at 5 am so revelers lined up early to get the best seats for the annual Boston Pops concert, which was followed by a spectacular 25-minute fireworks show.

WBUR's Sarah Bush spent some time on the Esplanade and sent us this audio postcard.

This program aired on July 4, 2007. The audio for this program is not available.
