Keeper of the Light

One of the best vantage points for watching tonight's July 4th fireworks over Boston Harbor is a place you can't reach by car or 'T.' In fact, you'd have to make special arrangements through the National Parks Service if you want to go there today.

It's Little Brewster Island, only about nine miles from the city as the seagull flies. The island is home to 'Boston Light," the first lighthouse in America and the only one still manned. Not only that, it's "manned" by a woman, for the first time in the beacon's history. WBURS's Claudine Ebeid has this profile.

This program aired on July 4, 2007. The audio for this program is not available.
