Boston Doc New Orleans Bound

Dr. Benjamin Sachs has chaired the Obstetrics and Gynecology department at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center for 18 years. Sachs, who is also a professor at Harvard Medical School, is internationally known for programs that reduce medical errors and has helped reduce complications for women and children during childbirth.

Now he's leaving Boston for New Orleans, where he'll take up the new position of Senior Vice President of Tulane University and Dean of its Medical School just two years after Hurricane Katrina. Dr. Sachs joins WBUR's Bob Oakes for a conversation about the challenges ahead.
