Bomb Scare at Logan

Police have arrested an MIT student at Logan Airport today. She was allegedly carrying a fake explosive device.

State Police arrested 19-year-old Star Simpson of Hawaii at gunpoint, after a Massport employee noticed her wearing a circuit board strapped to her chest and holding a substance that turned out to be play-doh.

State Police say Simpson told authorities the device was a piece of art. Police spokesman Scott Pare says Simpson is lucky that she ended up in a cell rather than the morgue.

Authorities say Simpson told police she was there to meet a passenger arriving on a flight from Oakland, California.
