The Beat Goes On, Part 5

50 years on from the original publication of Jack Kerouac's On The Road, the novel still sells about 100,000 copies a year.

All this week on WBUR's Morning Edition, Charles Sennott has been retracing the cross-country journey of Kerouac's alter ego in the novel, Sal Paradise.

In the final part of our series, Charlie speaks with Carolyn Cassady, an intimate of Kerouac. She is the widow of Neal Cassady, the model for Sal's road buddy, Dean Moriarty.

This program aired on September 21, 2007. The audio for this program is not available.
