Clinton Stumps for Tsongas

Former President Bill Clinton had to drive from his home in Westchester County, New York, to Lowell last night when a problem emerged with his plane.

Clinton was campaigning in Lowell for Democratic Congressional candidate Niki Tsongas.

Clinton tacitly recognized that there was some irony in the fact that he was on stage at Lowell's Memorial Hall with Niki Tsongas, given the tense 1992 campaign for president between Clinton and Tsongas' late husband, Paul.

Bill Clinton: "And somewhere, Paul Tsongas is smiling down on us tonight at this picture, huh?"

More than two thousand people turned out to hear Clinton campaign on behalf of Tsongas.

She is running for the open Fifth Congressional District seat against Republican Jim Ogonowski, Constitution Party candidate Kevin Thompson, and independents Kurt Hayes and Patrick Murphy.

This program aired on October 1, 2007. The audio for this program is not available.
