Election Day Preview
It's election day in 54 communities across Massachusetts on Tuesday. Voters will pick candidates for open mayoral posts in Everett, Fitchburg, Gloucester, Weymouth, Fall River, Westfield, and Worcester. In other mayoral races, the incumbents are favored to fend off challengers.
Boston's Mayor Tom Menino won his four-year term two years ago, so there's no contest there. But there are nine candidates vying for the four at-large City Council seats, as well as contested elections in five of the city's nine districts.
To set the stage for tomorrow's elections, WBUR's Bob Oakes turns to someone who's been through a few himself: Larry DiCara was a city councilor between 1972 and 1981 and a mayoral candidate in '83.
