Suffolk Downs in East Boston has been home to horse racing, and betting, since 1935. More than 70 years later, if its owners have their way, the track will offer more than a 'flutter on the fillies' in the future.
Joe O'Donnell is a businessman and primary shareholder of Suffolk Downs. He's wants it to be the location of one of the three resort-style casinos that Governor Deval Patrick has proposed allowing in Massachusetts.
O'Donnell joins WBUR's Bob Oakes to talk about vision for Suffolk Downs.
