BOSTON MEDICAL CENTER REPRIMAND

The Connector is reprimanding Boston Medical Center for telling patients they must switch to BMC's HealthNet Plan to continue receiving care at the hospitals. Connector Authority spokesman Dick Powers says letters sent to 2,600 patients are wrong...and disappointing.

The landmark MA health care effort is for the benefit of hundreds of thousands of MA residents who would otherwise be uninsured and in this instance, BMC seems to have lost sight of this.

As a penalty, the Connector did not automatically assign new subsidized insurance members to BMC's HealthNet plan in October. Executives with BMC and Healthnet say they are deeply sorry for any confusion.
