Tsongas Travels to Middle East

Bay State Congresswoman Niki Tsongas leaves today on a week long trip to Iraq and Afghanistan.

She says the primary goal of the visit is to hear from troops about their needs and concerns.

"I know that as a member of Congress there's been a lot of emphasis on making sure we are adequately protecting and supplying our troops that are there, so I would want to hear whether or not that's the case," Tsongas said.

Tsongas campaigned on an anti-war platform when she won a special election to replace Marty Meehan last fall.

She is traveling with five other members of Congress.
