State Insurance Website Criticized

Insurance agents are criticizing a new state web site aimed at helping consumers choose auto insurance under the state's new system of managed competition.

The Massachusetts Association of Insurance Agents sent a letter to the state this week sayiing the site is too limited to give accurate information.

State officials say the site is a launching point for consumers, and does not show actual insurance quotes.

Starting April 1, the state is phasing competition into the auto insurance market after 30 years of setting prices.
