Colleges Share Massive Donation

Two local universities are getting a major financial boost from a charitable trust established four decades ago. The trust, established by Frank Doble before his death in 1969, was recently dissolved after the sale of the company he owned.

It means Tufts University and Lesley University will share $272 million. Lesley University president Joseph Moore calls the gift "stunning."

"It will allow us to make investments in our programs, our faculty and staff, student scholarships and also in our facilities," Moore said.

The gift marks a near tripling of the school's endowment.
