Angels rally to beat Red Sox 7-5

Three Red Sox relievers get roughed-up as Boston loses to the Angels 7-5.

Joe Saunders pitched six solid innings to win his fourth consecutive decision for Los Angeles, while Gary Matthews Jr. singled in the go-ahead runs in the Angels' four-run seventh inning.

Three Red Sox relievers allowed four singles and three walks in the seventh.

The collapse of the bullpen deprived emergency fill-in Justin Masterson of a victory in his major league debut.

After scratching starters Josh Beckett and Daisuke Matsuzaka in consecutive days and moving up Jon Lester, the Red Sox called up Masterson for his first outing above Double-A.

He allowed one run on two hits and four walks in six innings while striking out four.

The Red Sox are on the road at Tampa Bay tonight, with Tim Wakefield pitching for Boston against the Rays' Matt Garza.
