Kennedy Back in Hyannisport

Senator Edward Kennedy is back home following his release from Massachusetts General Hospital.

Kennedy and his wife, Vicki, arrived shortly after 11:30 a.m. at the family compound in Hyannis Port, where the senator will rest at home while a course of treatment is determined for his brain tumor.

Kennedy told reporters, "Good to be back home," and immediately took his two dogs for a walk on the beach.

The 76-year-old Kennedy emerged from the Boston hospital earlier this morning, waving to a crowd of well-wishers and flashing a thumbs-up. He embraced family members and his dogs before climbing into a black SUV for the ride to Cape Cod.

A bandage at the back of his head marked the spot where doctors performed the biopsy that would reveal the malignant tumor in his left parietal lobe.

Doctors said in a statement that Kennedy was being released from the hospital ahead of schedule, eager to start treatment.
