Strain of Stressful Finances

The suicide of a woman in Taunton this week underscores the stress of financial pressures. For many people, the combination of a tough economy, the housing crisis, and rising gas prices is too much to handle.

For some, the strain may lead to mental health problems, such as depression, anxiety disorders, and addictive behaviors.

To talk about it all, WBUR's Deb Becker turns to David Mischoulon. He's a psychiatrist in the depression research program at Massachusetts General Hospital and an assistant professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.

Audio for this story will be available on WBUR's web site later today.

This program aired on July 25, 2008. The audio for this program is not available.
