The floor of the Republican National Convention was relatively quiet yesterday. The Party canceled many of the scheduled activities because of Hurricane Gustav. But still, there was a buzz among the delegates.
That buzz was caused by the news that the daughter of presumptive vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin is five months pregnant.
A statement released by the McCain/Palin campaign said that 17-year-old Bristol Palin is planning to marry the father of her baby, and that John McCain knew about the pregnancy before he selected Sarah Palin as his running mate.
One person who knows Governor Palin well is Massachusetts native Russ Kelly. He has served as her legislative director in Alaska and is now the associate director of her office in Washington DC. Kelly joins WBUR's Bob Oakes on Morning Edition.
