New Hampshire's Tight Senate Race

Two close races have the attention of New Hampshire voters this year: the presidential contest and the senate race between incumbent Republican John Sununu and former Governor Jean Shaheen, a Democrat.

Both candidates expect the two races to be close calls, and both acknowledge a wide range of issues that matter to voters in their state.

WBUR's Bob Oakes spoke with both candidates. He met up with Jean Shaheen at the Democratic National Convention in Denver. He spoke with John Sununu by telephone from New Hampshire, where the senator has remained to campaign this week, instead of attending the GOP convention.

This program aired on September 4, 2008. The audio for this program is not available.
