Impact on Retirement Funds

On the personal front, the turbulent stock market has a lot of people worried about their retirement funds.

President George Bush tried to ease consumer concerns Monday, "In the short run, adjustments in the financial markets can be painful, both for the people concerned about their investments and the employees of the affected firms."

WBUR's Bob Oakes turns to Alicia Munnell to talk about how Lehman's bankruptcy and the sale of Merrill Lynch may affect people's "nest eggs." She's director of the Center for Retirement Research at Boston College.

This program aired on September 16, 2008. The audio for this program is not available.
