Gov. Patrick Warns Of Another Deep Budget Cut

Governor Deval Patrick is now warning of another deep cut to this year's budget.

That's in addition to the $1.4 billion in cuts the governor announced in October.

Governor Patrick says although the final revenue shortfall figures won't be available until next month, the additional cuts could be as much as another $1 billion.

"That is a big number," the governor says. "It's not a happy number. It's not the number yet because we're still trying to come to rest on what the estimates for revenue will be. But the economy continues to deteriorate and we have to deal with that."

Governor Patrick says the latest budget shortfall may mean he has no choice but to include aid to cities and towns in the cuts, despite his efforts otherwise.
