Another Medical Partner For MetroWest

MetroWest Medical Center and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston have entered into a partnership that it is hoped will improve care for adult patients from the suburbs.

Details of the deal unveiled Tuesday have yet to be finalized, but executives say the plan is to have Beth Israel Deaconess specialists work part time at MetroWest facilities, which include Framingham Union Hospital and Leonard Morse Hospital in Natick.

In turn, the MetroWest facilities will send patients needing advanced care to Beth Israel, rather than other Boston teaching hospitals.

Beth Israel Deaconess CEO Paul Levy says the arrangement will streamline treatment plans and allow the institutions to share records, saving money by avoiding redundant tests.
