Boston Owes Police Back Pay, Court Rules
Boston is on the hook for hundreds of thousands of dollars in back pay to city police officers, after the state Supreme Judicial Court sided with patrolmen in a challenge to overtime rules.
The court said the city should have negotiated with the Patrolman's Association on a change to overtime policy in 2002.
Under the change, the city paid less in overtime to patrolmen.
Boston officials say they might appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.
