City Councilor Considers License Registration Crack Down

A city councilor is looking to crack down on residents who keep their cars illegally registered in another state as a way to bring in more revenue.

Councilor Rob Consalvo wants to set up a toll-free line for people to report abuses and fine owners 500 dollars if they don't register within 30 days.

Consalvo estimates the move might generate as much as $1 million in vehicle registration taxes.

Opponents say the move isn't necessary. The state already has a similar hotline.
