Governor's To-Do List: Improve Economy, Image

As Gov. Deval Patrick tackles the state's financial crisis, he finds himself increasingly on the defensive.

The latest snafus include long delays at Massachusetts Turnpike toll booths this past Sunday because of reduced staffing as well as a now-abandoned move to put a long-time supporter into a pricey but long-vacant state job.

To consider the governor's standing with voters right now, WBUR spoke with two political consultants. Democrat Michael Goldman has advised Gov. Patrick in the past.

On the Republican side, Eric Fehrnstrom served in the Romney administration and was press secretary for Mitt Romney's presidential campaign.
