U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan and the Rev. Jesse Jackson are among the leaders expressing shock over the reported death of Chicago Board of Education President Michael Scott.

An autopsy is under way to determine if a body pulled from the Chicago River on Monday is Scott's. Police say officers were called to the city's River North neighborhood at about 3:15 a.m., and found a man's body in the water.

Duncan used to serve as the CEO of Chicago Public Schools, and he says Chicago "has lost a great leader."

Jackson says Scott was his friend for more than 25 years.
