This article is more than 11 years old.

Republican Massachusetts gubernatorial candidate Charles Baker has selected state Sen. Richard Tisei as his running mate.

Baker made the announcement Monday morning on his Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Baker said on Facebook that the Senate Minority Leader has "years of experience fighting for the taxpayer" and that he's "thrilled to have him on the team."

The Wakefield Republican has served in the state Senate since 1991 and served as a state representative before that starting in 1985.

Christy Mihos is also running as a Republican while state Treasurer Tim Cahill is running as an independent against incumbent Democrat Deval Patrick.
