Monday Morning Roundup

Here’s a brief look at what’s being said in the political and media world about the Senate race.

'Dishing With Khazei'

The Boston Globe's Alex Beam invited the Democratic candidates over to his house for dinner — only one accepted. Between trying to sell Beam's 18-year-old son on City Year, Khazei's table talk ranged from risotto to the war in Afghanistan.

The Kennedy Mantle

In an op-ed on Politico, Sen. Paul Kirk — the interim junior senator from Massachusetts --  said now is the time for lawmakers to be mindful of Sen. Kennedy's spirit, as the health care debate goes forward. Kirk wrote: "Kennedy, never ashamed of his liberal label, would set aside ideology and find common ground for compromise if it meant that the American people would benefit."

A Second Stimulus

"If the first stimulus was like an alarm that was supposed to wake up the economy and get it back on its feet, the economy slept right through it," WBUR's Curt Nickisch writes in an article on the split between candidates over a second federal stimulus.

This program aired on November 23, 2009. The audio for this program is not available.
