Massachusetts is bracing for a winter storm Wednesday that could dump as much as a foot of snow south of the Massachusetts Turnpike in southeastern Massachusetts by Wednesday evening.

Allen Dunham, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Taunton, provided WBUR with a forecast for Greater Boston.

"The worst of the storm will be late (Wednesday) afternoon after about 3 p.m. into about 8-10 p.m. this evening," Dunham said. "During that time, we'll see snowfall rates, especially south of the city, of anywhere of one, occasionally up to two, inches of snow an hour."
