Listen: With Bishop Inquest Announced, Former Asst. DA Details The Legal Proceeding

On Thursday, Norfolk District Attorney William Keating, citing questions with police reports and a piece of photographic evidence, announced that he is opening an inquest into the 1986 shooting death of Seth Bishop by his sister, Amy, in Braintree.

Timothy Burke, who served eight years as Suffolk County's assistant district attorney, joined WBUR Friday to discuss what an inquest is and what the district attorney's office is hoping to accomplish with such a proceeding.

He says that public furor has led to Keating's inquest call.

"There needs to be a cleaning, if you will, of the air about this particular murder case, shooting case," Burke said. "I refer to it as a murder because I think everybody believes that it is anything but an accidental death."
