Obama Shows His Stuff: Health Reform in the U.S.A

We took our kids to a family opera last night at a local public school. The moral of the show, called Springtime For Haman, was that if you do what you know is right — even if means facing death — justice will prevail.

During intermission, a school committee member announced that the U.S. House of Representatives passed a procedural vote that would pave the way for sweeping health care reform legislation. The audience stood up and cheered. Only in Cambridge.

Still, it's historic, mind-blowing, "Lazurus Legislation," as The New York Times put it. And it show that when Obama dirties his hands, things get done. Here's the lead story in the Times today. And here's Kaiser Health News on the immediate impact of the legislation.

Finally, if you missed it, here's Obama's speech on WBUR after the bill passed the House late last night.

This program aired on March 22, 2010. The audio for this program is not available.
