State Rep. Nyman Dies After Being Found In Pool

Officials say Massachusetts state Rep. Robert Nyman has died after being found unresponsive in the swimming pool at his Hanover home.

Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz and police say the 49-year-old lawmaker's neighbors pulled him out of the pool as his family called 911 on Friday night. He was pronounced dead at South Shore Hospital.

Cruz and Hanover Police Chief Walter Sweeney say foul play is not suspected. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of Nyman's death.

Nyman, a Democrat, was first elected to the Massachusetts House in 1999 and was married with two children. He represented Hanover, Norwell and Rockland.

House Speaker Robert A. DeLeo called Nyman a fierce advocate for his district, and said Saturday that lawmakers feel a "deep personal sense of loss" at his death.
