Downtown Crossing Turns To 'BID' For Further Resources03:38

This article is more than 9 years old.

The Boston City Council is poised to create a business improvement district after a group of Downtown Crossing business owners and residents lobbied to create the "BID" as a way to improve city services in the area.

Cities like New York City, Philadelphia and Washington already have them, but this would be Boston's first business improvement district. To describe how it might work, WBUR was joined by Rosemarie Sansone, the president of the nonprofit Downtown Crossing Partnership.
