No Danger In 'Suspicious' Car Near Logan Airport

A State Police bomb squad has determined that an abandoned vehicle found near Logan International Airport in Boston does not pose any danger.

The car found on Porter Street in the vicinity of a rental car agency in the city's East Boston neighborhood was examined on Monday after authorities deemed it suspicious. Authorities said the bomb squad inspected the inside of the vehicle and its trunk and determined it to be safe.

State Police spokesman David Procopio would not say what caused authorities to become suspicious of the vehicle.

A nearby elderly housing complex was evacuated as a precaution and streets in the immediate area were closed off during the investigation.
