Check out the new CDC chart above. So many adolescents are taking Ritalin or Adderall or other stimulants that it's the most widely used category of drugs among American children, if you count adolescents as children. So this seems like a good moment to read a thoughtful briefing paper from The Dana Foundation — a non-profit brain research foundation — about the essence of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. In brief: the deficit is in control of attention, not attention itself.
