Northeastern Tech Found Dead, Cyanide Suspected

Milford police have found a 30-year-old Northeastern University lab technician dead at her home and a bag of what police suspect is crystallized cyanide next to her body.

The Boston Herald reports that police Chief Thomas O'Loughlin said officers arrived about 2:30 a.m. Sunday, after the woman's family called for help. Police found a plastic bag with the word "cyanide" written on it. Preliminary tests indicted the substance inside was cyanide. The woman's name was not released.

The school expressed sympathy for the family but declined to comment further.

O'Loughlin said more than a dozen emergency workers were tested for exposure to the compound but none apparently was harmed. He said both the residence and the woman's car were checked for contamination.
