Lamb Wins GOP Nod In Mass. 3rd District

Holliston real estate lawyer Martin Lamb has won the Republican nomination in the state's 3rd Congressional District and will face incumbent Democrat Jim McGovern in November.

Lamb bested four other candidates in Tuesday's GOP primary: businessman Brian Herr of Hopkinton; Harvard physicist Michael Stopa of Shrewsbury; home mortgage consultant Robert Chipman of Plainville; and criminal defense attorney Robert Delle of Westborough.

McGovern has represented the district since 1997. He was unopposed in the Democratic primary.

Patrick Barron, an independent candidate, will also be on the ballot.

The district stretches from Worcester to the southeastern Massachusetts town of Dartmouth.
