Patrick Holds Slim Lead Over Baker In Poll

In a poll released Sunday morning, Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick holds a slim lead over Republican gubernatorial candidate Charlie Baker.

The survey of likely voters gives Patrick 43 percent support over Baker's 39 percent.
Independent Timothy Cahill is in third place with only 8 percent. Green-Rainbow candidate Jill Stein received just 2 percent.

The lead is within the poll's margin of error.

The poll was conducted by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center for the Boston Globe.

The director of the center, Andrew Smith said voter turnout is going to be a key factor in the outcome of the race.

"Republicans are definitely excited, Democrats not so much."

Smith predicts a lot of negative campaigning in the final week of the race.

All four candidates will hold their final broadcast debate Monday night at 7 on WBUR 90.9.

This program aired on October 24, 2010. The audio for this program is not available.
