Woman Killed, 5 Hurt In 3 Boston Shootings

Boston police are investigating several shootings over the weekend that left a woman dead and five other people suffering from gunshot wounds.

The woman was shot and killed inside a convenience store Saturday afternoon in the city's Roxbury neighborhood. The store's owner was also shot and was hospitalized with injuries that are not considered life threatening.

The woman, whose name was not immediately made public, was the city's 56th homicide victim of the year, compared to 41 at the same time last year.

Two men were shot in Dorchester early Saturday morning. Two more men were shot, one critically, in Egleston Square on Saturday evening.

Commissioner Edward Davis says police are investigating all three shootings and have encouraging leads.
