The father of a college football player fatally shot by police investigating a disturbance outside a suburban New York bar says new statements about the shooting suggest an officer put himself in harm's way by stepping in front of his son's car.

Danroy Henry of Easton, Mass., father of Danroy "D.J." Henry Jr., commented Wednesday to The Associated Press on comments by an attorney for Pleasantville, N.Y., police officer Aaron Hess.

Henry said the attorney's comments to The Journal News of White Plains, N.Y.. show Hess got in the car's pathway rather than his son aiming the vehicle toward the officer, and add to the grieving family's confusion.

Police say Henry hit two officers with his car outside a Thornwood, N.Y., bar Oct. 17. Officers fired at the car, killing the Pace University football player.
