Lynn Public Schools May Require Uniforms

Lynn Public School officials are considering whether to require students to wear uniforms.

The plan would help lower income parents, according to Maria Currasco, a School Committee member.

"It's going to address the issue about who can have more money to buy better clothes," Currasco said.

Lynn Superintendent Catherine Latham supports the proposal.

"I think it's a good idea," Latham said. "We'll see, we'll see. I think it would have been easy when I was a parent, makes it easy to dress your children in the morning. I think it would have been easy as a student to get dressed in the morning."

The Lynn School Committee is expected to take up the issue next month.
