The suspect in this weekend's Arizona shooting will make his first appearance in court Monday. Six people were killed and Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) — the believed target of an assassination plot — remains in critical condition.
Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) joined Morning Edition on the phone Monday to talk about what this will mean for political life. Frank was hesitant to discuss details about any security changes for lawmakers.
"It would not be a good idea to discuss anything about security. But what I can say is this — I can't believe that any of us are going to allow this to result in a reduction of availability to the people we represent," Frank said.
