Feds: Woburn Cop Killer's Brother Gave Robbery Tips

Federal prosecutors say the younger brother of a paroled felon who shot and killed a veteran Woburn police officer during a department store robbery gave his older sibling text message advice on how to carry out the heist.

Prosecutors said during a hearing Thursday that Arthur Cinelli, himself a paroled criminal, sent the advice to his brother, Dominic, shortly before the Dec. 26, 2010 robbery that ended with Officer John Maguire and Dominic Cinelli dead.

Arthur Cinelli, paroled in 2001, was in court in New Hampshire to determine whether he should be released while facing a drug charge.

Prosecutors argued that he should be held because he encouraged his brother's criminal activities.

His lawyer said her client was trying to stop his brother from committing a crime. He was ordered held.
