Worcester police are investigating a fatal shooting in the city.

Officers responded to Rice Lane just after 8 p.m. on Wednesday to reports of shot fired and found the 32-year-old victim sitting in a car suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

His name was not immediately made public but police say he lived in the city.

Sgt. Kerry Hazelhurst says the department is seeking a search warrant for the vehicle.

Police had not made an arrest as of late Wednesday night and did not release a possible motive.

The death was the city's second homicide of the year.
