New Sex Abuse Allegations Surface Against Former Boston Doctor

This article is more than 12 years old.

New allegations have surfaced against a former pediatrician at Children's Hospital Boston. Several men are suing the doctor and hospital for alleged sexual abuse several years ago.

The class-action lawsuit claims more than 40 children were abused by one doctor at Children's over a 20-year period.

Lawyer Carmen Durso said that doctor, Melvin Levine, took one 10-year-old boy to Washington, D.C., with his parents' permission.

"They gave permission because he was a very trusted person. He was this wonderful doctor from Children's Hospital," Durso said.

In a statement, Children's Hospital said it investigated one complaint after Levine left the hospital 25 years ago and found no wrongdoing.

But Durso says Children's did not properly supervise or train Levine.

"Children's never took any action regarding Dr. Levine," Durso said. "They let him continue to be at the hospital and continue to sexually abuse the children there."
