Mass. Airmen Return Home After Iraq Deployment

Hundreds of people have welcomed home members of the Massachusetts Air National Guard after their six-month deployment in Iraq.

The Boston Globe says joyous relatives held signs saying "Welcome Home!" and waved American flags Sunday as the soldiers landed at Logan Airport.

Senior Master Sgt. Brian Eastman hugged his wife after ending his third overseas deployment in four years. He says airmen stay focused on their missions but homecoming is the day they're always looking forward to.

He says the latest deployment was difficult on his family at home in Sandwich because his children have grown older. Savannah is 13 and Nick is 8.

Wife Glenda Eastman says she's thrilled to have him back.

Forty-two members of Eastman's squadron were deployed. A formal welcome home ceremony is planned for Tuesday at the squadron's base in Otis.
