Mass. State Trooper Shoots Suspect After Chase

A state police spokesman says a trooper assigned to the gang unit has shot and killed a man in the north central Massachusetts town of Ashby.

Spokesman David Procopio says the trooper saw a suspect acting suspiciously Tuesday afternoon, pursued the man and tried to pull him over.

Procopio said the man fled down a road to a cul-de-sac in a residential area, where both cars stopped . He said the trooper got out of his car and tried to get the suspect to do the same, but the man ignored his repeated commands.

Procopio said the trooper fired when the man appeared to drive toward him and threaten his life.
