Milton Moves Forward With Wind Turbine Proposal

Town officials in Milton say they're moving forward with their proposal to build a 480-foot wind turbine at the town's border Quincy, despite a unanimous vote by the Quincy City Council against the plan.

Board of Selectmen Chair Marion McEttrick said that although the town is not bound by this particular vote from the Quincy City Council, she hopes to reach a resolution with Quincy officials.

"We do not agree on this issue at this time, but we haven't even had a chance to discuss it with the city council or the mayor. It may be that after some discussion, we'll find out that there's more common ground than they think," McEttrick said.

McEttrick said the environmental benefits of the turbine for Milton would be "substantial."

A state representative from Quincy has introduced a proposal in the Legislature that would outlaw the structure.
