Mass.-Based Movies Win Some, Lose Others Oscars

While "The King's Speech" was the big winner at the Academy Awards Sunday night — beating out its contenders for the coveted Best Picture award — Boston got a bit of a nod with a few wins for two movies.

Melissa Leo and Christian Bale won Best Supporting Actress and Actor, respectively, for their roles in "The Fighter." Bale thanked the crew in Lowell for their work on the film.

The Harvard-set film "The Social Network " also picked up honors for Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Original Score and Best Film Editing.
