Man Arrested In Times Square Case Reaches Deal

A Pakistani man arrested in Massachusetts during the investigation into the failed Times Square bombing has agreed to a deal with prosecutors in which he'll plead guilty, avoid prison time and be deported.

Documents filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Boston say Aftab Ali, also known as Aftab Khan, will plead guilty to unlicensed money transmitting and lying to federal agents about his immigration status.

Khan was one of three men taken into custody last May in connection with the failed bombing attempt.

Authorities say Khan unwittingly supplied $4,900 to Faisal Shahzad of Bridgeport, Conn., who was later convicted of the attempt. Khan was not accused of knowing about or participating in the plot.

Sentencing is scheduled for April 12. Khan's lawyer declined comment Friday.
